This week I was off to Houston for the first time ever. On this trip, I was scheduled to get a ride on my first Boeing 767 ever, but the weather had other plans. However, it was for the best because I ended up getting direct flights both ways. I guess there was a silver lining this time, but I still have that box to check and get on a 767.
The first flight was provided by United N88331. I was able to get some pictures of it coming into the gate.
On this trip, since I got into town early, I was finally able to try out the regional legend Whataburger. I had a burger with jalapeños on it and it was pretty good. I am glad I gave it a try. I will definitely go there again the next time I am in the area.
I stayed in the Hotel Derek and the room style reminded me of an old school Vegas style room. This was definitely different than the typical hotel I stay in.
I also had a nice view of downtown Houston. I was surprised by the number of tall buildings. Houston has terrible traffic and I am glad I don’t have to deal with that every day.
This was another quick trip and since Houston has a large international airport, I was able to see some awesome big planes. First up was a United Dreamliner Boeing 787. This plane is so sleek and I cannot wait to fly one, one day. I didn’t grab a tail number for that one though.
Next, I saw a Boeing 777-200 from Qatar Airways A7-BBD. This was a treat because the 777 is my favorite plane.
If that wasn’t enough 777 action, I got to see a Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300 TC-LJC land shortly after. It is surprising how much larger the 777-300 seems since the 777-200 is already a huge plane. The difference is about 10 meters between the two.
I also saw Singapore Airlines Airbus A350, but wasn’t able to grab a picture before it passed the gate. It’s a shame, because that is one slick plane. I hope to fly on that one day as well.
Anyhow, this was my flight home, United N647RW an ERJ-170SE. The ERJs are nice planes overall since there are no terrible middle seats, but not quite as cool as the big boys.
