Back to Memphis

This week, I was headed to Memphis for a few days. One of the downsides of traveling from a mid-market to another mid-market is that there are rarely any direct flights, so it usually means connecting and a great risk of delays or cancellations – especially during the spring and summer months. Well, this week I got bit by the delay bug.

First Trip to Dallas

I have been to Dallas a few times in the last couple of months, but only for connecting flights. This time I actually flew to Dallas. I only got one picture since I had direct flights both ways and on the return flight the gates were situated in such way that I could not get a picture. Here is American Airlines 737-800 N335PH.

My return flight was American Airlines MD-83 N970TW. Both flights were long, but uneventful, which is always nice. Everything was on time this trip as well. This trip was a quick in an out, but I should be back to Dallas in a month or two, so hopefully I will have some interesting pictures.

Leaving Las Vegas

I fully realize that the title is similar to a movie by the exact name, but they are nothing alike. Leaving Las Vegas was bittersweet for me. On the one hand, I just had the happiest moment in my life in Las Vegas – a moment I will never want to forget. On the other hand, we had been away from home for a while and it was time to get back. Las Vegas will always hold a special place in my heart and I plan on coming back many, many times to relive those memories, but home is home. Now that I am home, I can’t wait to visit Las Vegas. It will be an old friend for me.

One last snapshot of a Las Vegas morning before we were off. This really was an amazing view. I kind of took it for granted for the time we where there.

Time To Relax

With the wedding behind us, it was time to relax and enjoy a full day in Las Vegas. Our first order of business for the day was to host a breakfast for everyone at Cafe Americano. I had the chicken and waffles and it was very tasty. It was nice to catch up with everyone again and see what they were up to for the day.

The Wedding

We hung out in the back the of Juno Garden for a bit while the rest of the people arrived. I talk with the wedding planner, the photographer, got mic’d up for the video and all. It was really happening. It was warm and the sun was just beginning to set. The aisle was lined up with LED candles and everything looked awesome. I walked my mom down the aisle and to her spot and got lined up. The rest of the groomsmen followed soon after.

Almost Time

The day of the wedding was quickly upon us and there were a lot of emotions going on. It would be a relief on the one hand just due to all the planning that had gone into this and to finally see that come to fruition would be great. On the other side, it was a bit stressful because we would both be the center of attention. Me, less so, just because everything is focused on the bride mostly. Amanda was off to have brunch with the women, so it was just me solo for a few hours to think about it all.

Test Drive and Some Fun

Later on Wednesday, it was time to go through the dress rehearsal to make sure we knew what we were doing. This was the first time we both saw in person the Juno Garden at Caesars Palace. It was truly an amazing site.

After a quick walkthrough with everyone, it was time to have some fun! We had a shuttle take everyone down to Fremont Street. Fremont Street is the original Las Vegas. Fremont Street is a bit more raw when it comes to entertainment with a lot of street performers compared to the more curated Las Vegas Strip. There are a few casinos in this area and I finally got to experience blackjack thanks to my brother-in-law, Ryan. I understood the general idea of blackjack, just not all of the table etiquette and flow of the game. This time the table got the better of me, but I have the experience now to try it again the next time I am in Las Vegas.

After Fremont Street we went back to the hotels. After that I got to spend some time with TJ and Greg who arrived later that night and catch up on everything that had been changing over the last few years. We stayed out late into the night just like the good old days. It was a blast getting to hang out with my buddies again and just have a great time.
