Checking out Chicago

I have probably connected through Chicago O’Hare a dozen or more times in the last few years, but have never actually visited Chicago via the airport. Until now.

First up is United Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 N11539 to take us to Chicago.

The weather in Columbus was nice and sunny, but when we got to Chicago it was overcast and a bit chilly. Fortunately, there were a ton of big airplanes to check out.

First up I caught an Emirates Boeing 777-300, Swiss Airbuss A330, British Airways Boeing 747, and I think a United Airlines Boeing 767. I haven’t been on any of these, so hopefully some day.

Queen of the Skies, KLM Boeing 747-400 PH-BFV. This one was off to AMS.

ANA Boeing 777-300 JA788A. This one was off to HND. It looks a bit out of place since the entire terminal is otherwise United flights, especially next to United CRJ-700 N154GJ.

Last, can’t miss the flying pencil, United Airlines Boeing 757-300 N57870.

I spent just two days in Chicago and finally got to try some authentic Chicago style pizza. It was very tasty but extremely filling. It was also very rainy and cold the entire time. I should be back in Chicago in July, so hopefully it will actually be warm by then.

Leaving Chicago, I saw a familiar face, ANA Boeing 777-300 JA788A parked at the same gate.

On the way home, I saw a lot of wind turbines as well. I believe this was somewhere over Indiana or maybe Ohio. I hope to see many more of these in the future. Always a welcome site.

Last, a not very good shot of United Airlines Embraer ERJ-170 N640RW parked at the gate here in Columbus. Thanks for the quick and smooth flight!
